C.I.T.’s – Counselors in Training

This very popular and unique program is open to boys and girls entering 9th or 10th grade. It is designed to train these youngsters to become junior counselors. For half their day, they work with an assigned group, assisting campers and counselors in their activities. This on-the-job training is supplemented by training sessions given by the C.I.T. leader and coordinator. Topics for these sessions include learning how to deal with the disruptive child, encouraging campers to participate in activities, getting along with co-workers, safety, etc. The other half of the C.I.T. day consists of recreation with their peers. They swim, play tennis, softball, volleyball, as well as many other activities.

In addition, the C.I.T.’s go on weekly trips, including bowling, fishing, and Ultimate GaGa. They also have two overnight trips, one each in July and August. Typical destinations have included white water rafting, a visit to a dude ranch and of course, amusement parks.
